Introversion
Software requires a small number of people to beta test its
new game Darwinia and help make it a finished and polished
product. Anybody can apply to be a beta tester, and Introversion
will select from the applicants a group of able minded individuals
with the right attitude and the right hardware to make the
test go as smoothly as possible.

Beta Phase 1
Introversion
Software will select around a hundred individuals from the
applicants as phase 1 beta testers. We will send a beta demo
to those testers and phase 1 will begin. The intention of
phase 1 is to find and fix all hardware compatability bugs
with the game. Hence, only one level of the game will be provided,
and the level will not be entirely finished. Fresh applicants
may be selected if we are having difficulty resolving particular
hardware problems, and if they have the appropriate hardware
to test our fixes to those problems.
Phase
1 beta testers who leak the beta demo we provide them will
be removed from the test immediately, and will be banned from
all future Introversion forums, projects and beta tests. Big
men with sticks will be sent to their houses and their kneecaps
will be broken.
Beta Phase 2
Phase
2 will begin around a month after phase 1. Around a quarter
of the phase 1 beta testers will be selected and upgraded
to phase 2 beta testers, based on the quality of their bug
reporting, and our trust in the individual. Phase 2 beta testers
will be required to sign legally binding Non Disclosure Agreements
with Introversion Software before they can continue. Then
beta versions of the full game will be sent out to those phase
2 beta testers, for immediate testing.
In
addition, another hundred applicants will be added to phase
1 to test the demo level. The best testers from that group
will be upgraded to phase 2 at a later stage. This process
will continue until we are satisfied the full game has received
enough testing from enough people.
Phase 2 will last approximately two months.
Phase 2 beta testers
who complete the testing phase will receive a complimentary
copy of the finished game.
